Strengthening hiring policies through digital tools and anticipating staff growth during the pandemic.

Mind Source has reinforced its hiring policy through digital tools and plans to increase its team during the pandemic.

Over the past five years, the company has shown an average annual growth of 18 percent in the number of employees. In 2019 alone, Mind Source hired 30 new employees for the areas of development (60%), Business Analytics consultants, Business Intelligence and Data Scientists (30%), and Project Managers and SCRUM Masters (10%). At the end of the last fiscal year, the company had 205 employees with an average age of 37.

The 18% average growth is also reflected in revenue growth. Mind Source closed 2019 with 23% growth and revenue of over R$ 9.6 million. Given the excellent results of 2019, and despite the current circumstances, the company intends to continue investing in the expansion and development of its team and to hire 30 professionals by the end of 2020.

COVID-19 imposes the use of digital tools

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hiring market is naturally contracting. But at a time when layoffs and rising unemployment rates are on the agenda, Mind Source is bucking the trend and keeping its doors open to the job market.

Mind Source's hiring process has adopted a more digital approach. Interviews are currently conducted remotely. As this procedure was already followed in one out of ten interviews before the pandemic, Mind Source already had the necessary tools, and the new reality only required some adaptations and the widespread use of these tools. The onboarding process needed to be adjusted, but the obstacles were overcome thanks to technology and the agility of adaptation of people and processes.

The future hiring policy will focus primarily on business analysis teams, the fastest-growing area in the company, followed by development. In this context, Mind Source aims to strengthen its front-end and back-end teams with specialized professionals possessing the necessary skills for project development and monitoring.

Although universities continue to be training grounds for professionals in this area, Mind Source recruits new team members from the established job market. The company finds the skills and experience it needs in the information and communication technology market to strengthen its offerings and ensure the necessary knowledge to meet client demands. And while hard skills are necessary, soft skills are indispensable, as Rui Reis, CEO of Mind Source, states: “It is essential that our talents share the Mind Source DNA and organizational culture, since it is our people who reflect the organization's values in the work they perform with clients. The soft skills we value most in a potential talent are the ability to learn and adapt to circumstances.”

Mind Source was recently recognized for the 10th consecutive year as one of the Best Portuguese Companies to Work for in Portugal by Great Place to Work®, the global authority for building, sustaining, and recognizing high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures.
