The best IT Companies to work for in Portugal

For the first time, Great Place to Work released the ranking of the best companies to work for in Portugal within the Information Technology sector. The consultancy surveyed employees from these companies to identify those with the highest trust indices.

The Best Workplaces IT awards aim to recognise excellence in the workplace and the efforts made to improve it.

The three company size categories are defined by the number of employees. AdvanceWorks was recognised as the best small IT company to work for.

Mind Source achieved the same position in the medium-sized companies category, while Cisco was elected the best in the large companies category.

GPTW’s digital questionnaire tool, tested worldwide, enabled all employees to participate in the evaluation process of their company. All companies included belong to the Information Technology sector in the Culture Brief (with certification valid as of May 30, 2024) and have a minimum of 20 employees.

To qualify, companies must have a Trust Index of at least 65%, measured via a questionnaire completed by employees. This method assesses organisational culture and employee experience, allowing people managers to measure (and subsequently improve) the workplace experience and environment.

In this context, Best Workplaces are linked to valuing culture as a competitive advantage, improving talent attraction and retention, and strengthening Employer Branding strategies.

The choice of the IT sector for the first list in Portugal comes from it being “the most representative of the Great Place to Work community” in the country, as stated by Maurício Korbivcher, CEO and Country Manager of the consultancy.

The Executive Director added:

With this list, we want to recognise IT organisations that are creating a positive and consistent employee experience and transforming their culture into a competitive advantage, strongly impacting employer branding. The creation of the highly anticipated IT list meets a long-standing desire of companies to have recognition specific to their business area.

To celebrate this pioneering distinction, a roundtable event was held on the theme “Expanding the Limits of Human Potential Through AI, For All.” The event featured Ricardo Henriques (Abreu Advogados), Bruno Soares (Foundever), and Jorge Carrola Rodrigues (professor at Nova IMS), with moderation by Lourenço Medeiros, journalist at SIC.
